The Department of Science Laboratory Technology, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro on Friday, organized a befitting pull out ceremony to commemorate the retirement of the immediate past Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Raheem Adisa Oloyo.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Afolayan Olumide, the Head of Department eulogized the good will of the outgoing rector, describing him as a man with large heart and epitome of good leadership.

Dr. Raheem Oloyo, accompanied by his wife expressed his appreciation for the great honour done him by the department, promising to always give his best to the development of the polytechnic at large.

Afolayan further commended the retiring Dr. Oloyo for his service to humanity and the polytechnic at large, describing him as a great academic scholar and the first Rector to emerge from the Department of SLT as it is fondly called.

The pull out ceremony for Dr Oloyo which commenced from the Department of SLT later moved to the waiting hand of the polytechnic Rector, Dr. Olusegun Aluko at the administrative block of the polytechnic.

Dr. Aluko who could not hide his joy for his predecessor thanked Dr. Oloyo for his good service to the polytechnic community which has transformed the institution to greater heights. Thereafter,, Dr Oloyo signed the exit register winding up a blossom career at the polytechnic.

Despite the early morning showers of rain, the final pull out begun as students from the Department of SLT led the pull out ceremony alongside lecturers from the institutions as Nigeria Police Band treated guests to wonderful music.

Other members of the institution present at the occasion were the Deputy Rector, Engr (Mrs) Idowu Ogunfayo, Mrs Adebisi Osore (Registrar), Mr. Bode Ajibode (Bursar) and other principal officers.

In addition, Deans of School, Heads of Department, Lecturers s well as other academic staff also paid a glowing tribute to the retiring rector with their presence.

An elated HOD of SLT, Mr. Afolayan Andrew Olumide appreciated everyone including academic and non-academic staff for their presence and also the management of the polytechnic for the honour done to Dr. Oloyo and the department at large.

Dr. Raheem Oloyo who retired at the mandatory 65 years of age was until his retirement, Director, Linkage Services of the polytechnic and the immediate past Rector of the institution.
