Reactions have continued to pour in on the Senate’s approval for the conversion of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro to University of Technology, Ilaro, Ogun state.
Speaking on the development, the rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Olusegun Aluko expressed his appreciation to the senate for speedy approval of the project which according to him, ” is a welcome development”.
While appreciating members of the committee, the host community and the league of Yewa Obas led by the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle and the sponsor of the bill, Senator Olamilekan Solomon, the rector disclosed that, expectations are high as the bill finds its way to the House of Representatives before the much expected presidential assent.
Meanwhile, members of Ilaro community have been reacting to the news of the upgrading of the institution to a university. In his words, Mr. Olude Solomon described the development as laudable, calling on all stakeholders to join hands in seeing to its final approval.
In the same vein, a landlord who prefers anonymity expressed his joy for the new dawn in Ilaro. According to him, ” the new university would boost the economy of Ilaro and the entire yewaland”.
Also, some students of the polytechnic have expressed satisfaction on the latest development concerning the institution. While some are ready to seek direct entry after completing their National Diploma programmes, others are joyful to be the last graduating set at Higher National Diploma level.
The news of Senate approval was blown open on Tuesday June 1 to the admiration of the entire stakeholders of the polytechnic and well wishers. While the bill moves to the green chamber, nothing short of success is expect to further boost the presidential approval for the new University of Technology, Ilaro.
