All is now set for the commencement of the second semester examination for the students of the Federal Polytechnic,, Ilaro in Ogun state.
The students who resumed back on campus after the federal government directed all schools earlier closed due to covid-19 pandemic to reopen commenced lectures without any further delay in the month of September.
In a circular letter issued in respect of the academic exercise for the semester, students were made to attend classes for one hour per course as a make up for the earlier arrangements of e-learning class created during the pandemic.
In addition, the school authority ensured total compliance towards precautionary measures for covid-19 by ensuring that the campus was not over crowded during the semester by breaking the days of lecture for ND I and HND to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. While HND II and ND II classes were held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays respectively.
In a chat with one of the students who prefers anonymity, he said, “the management has directed students writing the exams to observe all precautionary measures on covid-19”.
According to the student, “we must wear nose mask, wash our hands and must be screened from the main entrance of the school before being allowed into the premises.
Expectedly, adequate security has been put in place towards ensuring a peaceful atmosphere, while the usual Students Union Week for this year has been cancelled in order to avoid any spread of covid-19 within the campus.
The federal polytechnic, Ilaro is known for steady academic calendar across the nation. This feat and other developmental projects earned the institution the award of best polytechnic in Nigeria by webometrics, recently.
In the meantime, the institution’s rector, Dr. Olusegun Aluko has enjoined the students to give their best during the examination and shun all devices of malpractices.
Aluko further stated that the sitting arrangements are in compliance with the directives of the federal government to forestall the spread of covid-19 among the students, while adequate security and medical facilities are readily on ground in case of emergencies.
The second semester examination for the federal polytechnic, ilaro which begins on Monday, 7th December runs for two weeks.
