The Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta will on Saturday 10th of October, 2020 join the rest of the World to celebrate the World Mental Health Day.
In a release issued by the hospital’s Public Relations Officers, Abiola Ajibola, and made available to Inkline Times, the theme for this year celebration is “Mental Health For All: Greater Investment – Greater Access” .
According to him, “the celebration is aimed at providing opportunity for Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, the foremost Psychiatric Hospital in Nigeria to raise awareness on Mental Health Issues and how the hospital had mobilized resources over the years to provide greater access to mental health care delivery in the hospital, community and on the international scene”.
Meanwhile, a virtual press conference to commemorate the day holds tomorrow and to be addressed by the Provost and Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Agboola Afis Akanni with a focus on the various activities of neuropshychiatic hospital, Aro , Abeokuta in the provision of community mental health services in Ogun state and her contribution to mental health delivery in Nigeria.
Also, a Consultant Psychiatrist and Consultant in charge of the Lantoro Annex of the hospital, Dr. Amosu Sunday is expected to deliver a lecture on the topic “Mental Health For All: Greater Investment – Greater Access.” at the event.
The hallmark of this year’s celebration of World Mental Health Day by the Hospital will be the discussion on the roll-out and development of Aro Primary Care Mental Health Programme for Ogun State and the speaker on the discussion is Mrs. Olopade Modupe, the Chief Nursing Officer & Aro Primary Care Mental Health Field Nurse Supervisor.

The World Health Organization has set aside October 10 every year to provide opportunity to raise mental health awareness and to help people with mental illness to live better lives with dignity.
