Two members of the popular news platform, The Inkline, Akeem Akintunde and Michael Ogunsiji have been elected into the leadership positions of Ogun state Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
While Akintunde was returned into the Chairmanship position of the association for the second time running, Ogunsiji Michael was elected as the secretary having previously served as the Assistant Secretary of the same association at the election that took place today in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Responding to the victory, an elated Ogunsiji who defeated the incumbent Sanusi Lateef by 12 votes to 5 expressed his appreciation to members of the association for the confidence reposed in him by working hard to lift and promote the integrity of the association from time to time.
While congratulating the Inkline members for their victories, the founder of the news platform, Seun Abati urged them to use their offices to promote sports journalism to the greater heights through objective reporting, truthfulness and honesty.
Abati therefore urged the winners to embrace those who contested with them in the spirit of sportsmanship and to work together in unison.
He however saluted the courage of another Inkliner, Sanusi Lateef for fighting a good battle and urge him to be strong and work together with the new exco towards moving Ogun SWAN forward.
The inauguration for the new exco will come up on Tuesday, 28th July, 2020 at the NUJ secretariat, Iwe-Irohin house, Abeokuta.
