The much awaited Yoruba narrative programme, Ayoka has berthed on Poly Ilaro 92.FM radio, Ilaro in Ogun State.
The maiden programme stormed the air waves on thursday evening when the presenter of the programme, Seun Abati came on board to the delight of the listeners.
Introducing the programme, Abati, a Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication asked listeners to choose from the list of old traditional Yoruba books available for the show in order to feel the pulse of the audience.
With the barrage of phone calls, majority of the callers voted for a book written by Late Professor Afolabi Olabimtan, “Bó ti gbà”.
Expectedly, the 30 mins programme commenced with the story being read by the presenter and to the delight of his listening audience.
Meanwhile, members of Ilaro community have continued to shower encomiums on the polytechnic radio as well as the presenter for coming on board with such a programme at this crucial time.
Abati who received some of these messages from his social media handles as well as through phone calls and text messages thanked his listening audience for trusting the radio station and for the show of love for the new programme.
According to him, ” Ayoka is a programme aimed at promoting the rich culture of Yoruba literature and values as well as to bring back the old memories of “our heroes past ” who authored some of these books.
He stated further that, the programme would continue to wax stronger through the support of the listeners and also urged them to keep listening to Poly Ilaro 92:10 FM radio with a promise that, the station has come to satisfy both the students and the community interest to a large extent.
Ayoka is a programme that comes up every thursday between 6:30-7:00pm on the frequency of 92:10 FM, Poly Ilaro radio.
