Residents of Ogun state have been kept under another one week of lockdown by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Abiodun made this known during a press briefing in his office late yesterday describing the reason for the extension as the outcome of an online poll conducted with majority of respondents supporting yet another week of lockdown.
According to him, “Interestingly, the feedback from you, the people of Ogun State, from the Public Opinion Poll hosted on the Twitter, also support the extension of the lockdown. Out of about 6,000 respondents of the online poll, 53% support the continuation of the lockdown whilst 43% want a review with 4% undecided”.
It would be recalled that, this would be the third time in a row that residents of the state would be kept under lockdown as one of the ways to tackle the spread of covid-19 in the state and most especially from neighbouring state of Lagos as well as border countries.
As expected, Gov. Abiodun released a relaxation time table which allows citizens to be free on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7am-5pm, while total lockdown shall be observed on tuesday, thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, mixed reactions have trailed the extension of lockdown in Ogun state. While some people are of the opinion that the extension will help in curbing the spread, others see it the other way.
