To become a man is not a a day’s job, likewise being successful in life is never so easy except for the very few in the society. Being born with a silver spoon does not guarantee success as so many cases have established.
In the same vein, to be a child of a begger is not an automatic ticket to live in penury forever as destiny has a way of picking its own out of doldrums into eternal grace. That exactly is the case of the son of “Omo baba NEPA” (son of NEPA staff) who through a dint of hardwork and the grace of God, rose from zero to hero.
The life and times of Arc Olusegun Olanrewaju Aluko is a mirror that must be looked into to climb up into the ladder of success. His passion and character coupled with determination to succeed in life made him to concentrate early in his academic pursuit.
He has fought so many battles in life but this man of christian background has won on many occasions and still winning. This may be ascribed to his name, “Olusegun”, which can be translated to being victorious through God. Indeed, his honour has been moving forward faster than human comprehension as fulfilment to his middle name, Olanrewaju.
Dr Olusegun Olarenwaju Aluko was born on 13thMay, 1960 in Osogbo, Osun State but hails from Mopa in the Mopa-Amuro Local Government Area of Kogi state. He started his Primary education at C.A.C. Primary School, Osogbo between 1965 and 1970.

Having distinguished himself as an ‘apprentice’ Architect at Habitat Associates, he joined the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Nassarawa as lecturer III in 1986.
Little did he know that he was on his path to glory from his new appointment. As a Lecturer II, the young Olusegun Aluko continued to give his best through hardwork, commitment and most of all, punctuality which flows in the family. He indeed inherited that from his father.
In 1988, the need to move down the West came his way and without any further assumption, Arc. Aluko transferred his services from the Federal Polytechnic, Nassarawa to the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun state where he rose to the position of Head of Department of Architectural Technology, Dean School of Environmental Studies 2012-2014.
Between 1990 and 2010, Arc. O. O. Aluko gave his best by contributing immensely to the growth of his department and the Polytechnic at large. He served as the Departmental Examination Officer, Co-ordinator, Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme, (SIWES) and Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro chapter at different times of his career.
The Kogi State born technocrat and unionist has undertaken several architectural projects whose benefits are immeasurable. In 2014, Arc Olusegun Olanrewaju Aluko was appointed as the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro by the former president, Goodluck Jonathan. Since then, the wind of development in the Polytechnic had been blowing ceaselessly and with the support of the members of both the academic and non-academic staff, the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro has continued to soar higher like an eagle and waxing stronger like like a lion.
A member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (MNIA), Arc. Aluko has several publications to his credit, which include, Rationalization of Existing Facilities in a Depressed Economy – A case study of The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Library and Tourism – A sustainable Tool For Rural Development.
