President Muhammad BUHARI of Nigeria in a live broadcast to the nation Tuesday night, has ordered the relaxation of total lockdown imposed on the two states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja by Monday 5th May, 2020.

Citing various improvements recorded in tackling the global pandemic through the supports of all the governors, corporate bodies, media and security personnel as well as the need for economic recovery, the President disclosed that, the lockdown would be relaxed for ease of movement and for economic purposes while curfew would be imposed between 8pm and 6am.

While appreciating the efforts made so far, President Buhari thanked Nigerians for their cooperation, urging them to continue to uphold all the guidelines of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and most especially washing of hands and use of face mask in public places.

He was quick to add that, the government would not fold its arm and allow security personnel abusing human rights in the course of discharging their duties during this period of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the president has declared a total lockdown on Kano State with immediate effect. Citing the outbreak of corona virus as well as the strange deaths in the state for the decision.

He however assured the people of Kano state of the support of his government towards finding a solution to the situation on ground.

Tbe Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun States were locked down for initial two weeks before another one week extension in an effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19 .
