As part of its efforts towards alleviating the sufferings of the less privileged in Ogun state, one of Nigeria’s leading social media platform, The Inkline has commenced the distribution of relief materials to the aged and the poor.

Led by the Chairman of the distribution committee, Mrs Taiwo Akintomide, the programme took off from the office of the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Arc (Dr) Olusegun Aluko who was formally decorated with the platform’s souvenir(féz cap) designed for the event.

Mrs Akintomide briefed the Rector on the need to remember the poor and the aged in our midst, most especially at this point in time when the global pandemic, Covid-19 is increasing day by day thereby reducing people’s movement to work and earn their living.

According to her, ” we have come together as members of “The Inkline” to give this token relief materials to the less privileged as a result of the lockdown declared in Ogun state and to bring succour to the old people who cannot afford anything to eat in our society.

Responding, Arc(Dr) Aluko thanked the members for deeming it fit at this point in time to pull resources together to remember the poor apart from discussing about news and happenings alone on the platform.

He stated further that, with this laudable idea, it shows that members of the loop are not closing their eyes to the plights of the less privileged as this is the time to show love and concern to the less privileged in our society

He said, ” now that I know that Inkline is not about journalism alone but also includes humanitarian services, I would continue to give my support to the loop from time to time.

Earlier, the founder of The Inkline, Mr Mobolaji Oluwaseun Abati had introduced members of the committee, stating the purpose of the visit to the Rector and the need to support the needy in our society.

Abati also used the opportunity to thank the Rector who is also a member of The Inkline for his fatherly support in keeping the news loop flying as well as towards the programme of the day.

In his own address, one of the committee’s member and a Counselor at the National Open University of Nigeria, Mr Adeyinka commended the Rector for a job well done which according to him, describes his qualities and his achievements.

The Rector was thereafter decorated with the official féz cap of the platform by Mr Adeyinka, while a sample package of the relief materials was also presented to the Rector who graciously accepted it with joy.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer, Ilaro, CSP Olayemi has commended the good gesture of The Inkline to provide relief materials to the poor and the aged in Ilaro, describing the idea as a welcome one at this point in time.

CSP Olayemi used the opportunity to inform the team about the activities of the police so far and their readiness to ensure a crime free society for the people of Ilaro community.

Responding, Mrs Akintomide appreciated the DPO for yeoman’s job since his assumption to the office and also for giving his support as a member of The Inkline to the distribution of relief materials within Ilaro township.

In his remarks, Abati said, the team came to use the opportunity to formally inform the DPO of the intention of the committee to distribute relief materials within the community as required by law.

The hallmark of the event was the release of a patrol team by the DPO for the committee as well as the distribution of relief items to the aged and poor people in places lie Ona-nla, On a Otun, Ona Osi, Akinniku, Ago Isaga among others.

Other members of the committee who were present for the programme were; Mrs Bunmi Banjo, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim and Mr Seun Amusan, Mr Kunle Olayeni as well as the PRO, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Mr Sola Abiala who was with the team as a member at the institution.
