Bus conductors in Lagos and Ogun states have expressed their concerns over the low turnout of passengers at various motor parks due to the corona virus outbreak in Nigeria.
In an interview conducted by inklinetimes with some of the conductors in parts of Lagos and Ogun states, the conductors believe that the virus is a hoax that is preventing people from coming out.
In Lagos state, a conductor said, ” there’s no corona virus in Nigeria, government is just causing problems for drivers not have passengers on daily basis”.
On the other hand, another conductor who spoke anonymously was of the opinion that the fear of corona virus is the beginning of low turnouts at various motor parks.
Meanwhile, transporters in Ogun state have also attributed the effect of corona virus to the low turnouts at various inter states motor parks in the state.
According to one of the drivers, the awareness created by the state government has given more information and knowledge to the people, thereby making them to stay away from parks.
It would be recalled that the Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun has intensified efforts towards putting some checks into the spread of the disease in the state.
Some of the checks include, non-gathering of more than 50 people in a spot, immediate closure of all educational institutions in the state as well as the setting up of a task force to oversee the compliance.
Nigeria so far, has recorded 30 cases of Covid-19 as at the time of this report as governments at all levels continue to find possible way out of this global communicable disease.
