The much awaited heavyweight championship bout between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder ended in a bloody way that made the American, Deontay Wilder to miss the post match conference as a result of the injuries sustained during the match, early this morning.
Barely fourteen months after their meeting that ended in a draw, the two boxers locked horns together with Tyson Fury aiming to dethrone the reining World Boxing Organization champion, Deontay Wilder.
Having dropped the champion into the canvass in rounds three and five, the British boxer, Tyson Fury landed a heavy punch that drew blood from the left ear of Wilder from where he took control.
In round seven, the bashing continued with Fury throwing punches to a helpless Wilder which led to his corner throwing in the towel as the referee stopped the match.
An elated Fury said after the match, that “the king is back”. Having won all the titles in the heavyweight category, the new champion has now the elusive WBO belt in a remarkable way.
It was gathered however, that, Wilder could not wait for the post match conference as he was said to have been rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment on the injuries sustained to his ear and mouth.
Boxing fans are already calling for a unification bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Only time will tell, if such would happen this year.
