The Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria(ACSPN) has expressed delight about the appointment of Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie as the new Vice Chancellor of Caleb University, Nigeria.
According to a release signed by its Secretary, Lanre Arogundade, the association described Prof Owens-Ibie appointment as a deserved recognition of academic and administrative excellence.
The President of ACSPN, Prof. Lai Oso said in a congratulatory message to Professor Owens-Ibie noted that, “his appointment comes at a time when tertiary education in Nigeria urgently needs dedicated academic capable of bringing out the best in the system”.
According to him, “You are one of such and to that extent your appointment is highly deserved especially as you have also diligently served as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of your esteemed institution”.
Professor Oso further eulogised the new Vice-Chancellor who is also the General Secretary of ACSPN as a man assuming office with the unique advantage of scholarly and professional background in journalism, media practise and mass communication.
According to the ACSPN President, Prof. Owens-Ibie is an ideal candidate for the exalted office for the noble offices due to his managerial experience coupled with his ability to manage human emotional and psychological relations and well being of the staff and the students.
Prior to his appointment, Prof Owens-Ibie had served as the Dean, College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences and Dean of the Post-Graduate School of the institution, among others. He is a founding Secretary of ACSPN till date.
