The Ogun state government has called for a mutual cooperation and understanding between the government and the traditional institutions towards the enthronement of focus and good governance across the state
Governor Dapo Abiodun made the call recently at the statutory meeting of Ogun state Council of Obas organized by the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The governor described the traditional rulers as instruments of development due to their closeness to the grassroots which must be utilised to assist the government in growing the socioeconomic status of the state
Describing the traditional rulers as partners in progress in repositioning the state, governor abiodun charged them to complement the efforts of the government in ensuring effective security arrangement in their domains enjoining the traditional rulers to be accessible to their subjects by being receptive to their demands
He however, assured the traditional rulers that the statutory meeting will be held regularly to seek their advises on how to build the future of the state together
In his welcome address, the secretary to the state government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi urged the traditional rulers to promote unity and coexistence in their domains in order to encourage private investors into the state in line with the vision of the current administration
Mr Talabi assured them that government will continued to support the institutions in achieving its set goals
The SSG used the occasion to advise the rulers to address the problem of communal conflicts in their various domains that may hamper the progress of the state
Also speaking, the chairman of Ogun state traditional rulers council of Obas, the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo assured the governor that the traditional institutions will continue to support the government in achieving its aims of rebuilding the state
Oba Gbadebo congratulated governor Dapo Abiodun on his victory during the last election which he said has shown the supremacy of God over mankind
The monarch urges the government to look into some of the problems affecting the state such as bad roads, security, chieftaincy disputes among others
