The world football governing body, FIFA has authorized the enlargement of the Women’s World Cup, WWC.
The WWC which used to be 24 teams has now been expanded to 32 teams for the 2023 Women’s world Cup competition.
Budding proceedings for potential hosts has also be re-opened by the world governing body, FIFA.
FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, who had initially anticipated a five-point agenda to develop Women’s football.
He had promised that the development will start with expanding the Women’s World Cup from 24 to 32 teams.
Announcing the enlargement via its official website on Wednesday, FIFA said, “The FIFA Council has unanimously agreed to a proposal to expand the number of teams taking part in the women’s World Cup from 24 to 32.
“This is with effect as of the next edition of the tournament in 2023.”
