The maiden edition of Professor Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku Foundation( PAOJF) has kicked off with three hundred and eighty seven students from both public and private secondary schools participating in the written chemistry competition.
The Test which was written simultaneously in the Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba zones had two candidates each from the registered schools in the Twenty Local Governments of the State.
The Director of the Foundation, Engr. Idowu Jiboku said the second stage of the competition is a Computer Based Test (CBT) taking place on the 13th of July while TV Quiz and Practical sessions (an integral part of Chemistry), are slated for July 20th, 2019 respectively.
Engr Jiboku stated further that the Professor Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku Foundation (AOJF) was established in 2012 and the Chemistry Competition was one of the ways to immortalize the Founder and Proprietor of Taidob College, Professor Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku, who taught Chemistry all his life.
According to him, “entry to the competition is free at all stages”.
Meanwhile, a cross section of teachers at the different venues described the contest as having a smooth take-off while lauding the Foundation for the initiative. They also expressed the hope that it would standardize the teaching and learning of chemistry.
The candidates who were optimistic to reach the final stage however made it known that the competition afforded them opportunity to learn more and improve in their study of Chemistry.
