Many bank customers, especially Muslim faithfuls were left with financial agony as some of the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) left them without cash in Ilaro, Yewa South area of Ogun state.
A Muslim brother who preferred anonymity recounted his ordeal with some of the banks in Ilaro in the last two days. According to him,” it has been a very long queue since 7:30 am today and yet, I am still waiting”. He stated further on how he stayed for two days without having access to funds due to daily long queues as well as insufficient funds in some of the machines.
Inkline Times however gathered that, although, almost all the banks in the town have been operating tirelessly in the last two days, but, the ATM operation of some of the banks is nothing to write home about.
In some of the banks visited, long queues were seen with customers lamenting and narrating their financial ordeals in different categories. To some, the ATM machines have debited them and yet, no reversal since two days ago. While some were turned back with” temporarily unable to dispense cash” inscription, having waited for over an hour on the queue.
As at the time of filing in this report, customers were still moving from one bank to the other looking for where to do the needed transactions. While some have resolved to the use of paga, others are planning to travel outside the town to withdraw cash from the banks.
Inkline Times further gathered that the town has been witnessing huge crowds at various ATM points across the town in the last five days. This may not be unconnected with the early payment of staff salaries of Dangote Cement Company, Ibese.
